About the role

As a Machining Apprentice at CMP, part of the British Engines group of businesses, you will be trained to carry out a range of engineering-based activities, developing hands-on skills and experience as you start your career in mechanical engineering. The apprenticeship is a 4-year programme specialising in mechanical engineering. During your first two years you will work towards achieving a Level 3 Diploma in Machining, which will require attendance at college one day per week. The remaining 4 days will be spent in our manufacturing facilities in Cramlington gaining hands on experience. You will learn all aspects of CNC machines, including how to set-up, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings, read and/or edit CNC programmes, measure and check components, understand risk assessments and standard operating procedures, use a variety of measuring equipment, apply a variety of removal and shaping techniques, and understand how businesses operate.
