About the role
M&I Materials (Wolfmet) is seeking an Apprentice Machinist for their facility in Trafford Park, Manchester. This advanced apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the end-to-end production of tungsten alloy, a high-density material used for radiation shielding and precise weight distribution in medical, aerospace, and industrial applications. The role involves operating conventional and CNC machines, including milling machines, Mazak Lathes, pusher and batch furnaces, and CMM machines. Apprentices will also be involved in bench work such as deburring and assembly, maintaining high standards of housekeeping, and participating in continuous improvement activities. Successful completion may lead to a permanent position. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong GCSEs in English and Maths, a keen attention to detail, and a passion for engineering.
Entry requirements
- GCSE Any: Grade 4/C or above (Essential), GCSE English: Grade 4/C or above (Essential), GCSE Maths: Grade 4/C or above (Essential), GCSE Science: Grade 4/C or above (Desired). Strong communication, attention to detail, organisation, problem-solving skills, logical thinking, team working ability, and initiative are also required.
