Level 6 Product Design Development Apprenticeship

About the role

This Level 6 apprenticeship at Unilever focuses on Product Design and Development within the Ice Cream R&D Centre, specifically in the Packaging and Systems team. Based at Colworth Science Park, Sharnbrook, the role will involve supporting innovation in sustainable packaging and reducing energy consumption in ice cream cabinets. Apprentices will develop engineering skills, including design, materials knowledge, supply chain understanding, and digital technologies. Responsibilities include development, testing, and collaboration with third-party manufacturers and suppliers. The role encompasses all stages of product creation and modification, from early concept feasibility and CAD modelling to final launch preparation, including rapid prototyping, assembly, testing, validation, and performance analysis.

Entry requirements

• A minimum of two A-Levels at grade 6 (or B) or above, including a mathematical-based subject and a science, technology, engineering, or an additional mathematics-related subject OR an Engineering BTEC Level 3 with at least 120 credits at DM (Distinction Merit) level or above OR EAL Diploma in an engineering-based subject at D (Distinction) level.
