About the role

The apprenticeship in dental nursing is a 12-month government-funded course by City & Guilds, a Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alongside your learning, your job role within the practice will entail assisting dentists, sterilising & preparing equipment, reception duties and supporting patient experience.

Duties include providing efficient and reliable chair-side support to the dental surgery. Day-to-day tasks span across all areas of the practice and can include reception duties (answering phones, greeting patients), dealing with patient queries, taking payments, booking appointments, sterilising and preparing equipment, recording patient records, supporting patients' wellbeing, cleaning dental areas, and managing stock. You will also perform other duties to support the dentists and senior team in providing effective patient care.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English at grade 4, GCSE Maths at grade 4. Desired skills include communication, organisation, customer care, problem solving, administrative skills, teamwork, patience, and patient care.
