About the role

This is a government-funded Level 3 Extended Diploma apprenticeship in dental nursing, lasting 12 months. The role involves assisting dentists, sterilising equipment, reception duties, and supporting the patient experience. Duties include chair-side support, patient interaction, taking payments, booking appointments, managing patient records, ensuring patient wellbeing, cleaning dental areas, and managing stock. The apprenticeship standard is Dental Nurse (GDC 2023) Level 3, with training provided at the dental surgery. Functional Skills training will be provided if required. Applicants will need to pass a DBS check and get a Hepatitis B vaccine. Upon completion, there are opportunities for career progression into roles such as dental practice manager, or further training to become a dental therapist, hygienist, or orthodontic therapist.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above, strong communication, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, administrative, and team working skills, along with patience and a non-judgemental attitude.
