About the role

The apprenticeship in dental nursing is a 12-month government-funded course by City & Guilds, a Level 3 Extended Diploma. Alongside your learning, your job role within the practice will entail assisting dentists, sterilising & preparing equipment, reception duties and supporting patient experience. Duties include providing efficient and reliable chair-side support, reception tasks, dealing with patient queries, taking payments, booking appointments, sterilising and preparing equipment, recording patient records, supporting patient well-being, cleaning dental areas, and managing stock. Career progression opportunities include moving into roles like team manager, dental practice manager, or further training to become a dental therapist, dental hygienist, or orthodontic therapist. Applicants will need to pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and get a Hepatitis B vaccine.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above. Desired skills include communication, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, administrative skills, teamwork, and patience.
