About the role

The apprenticeship in dental nursing is a 12-month government-funded course by City & Guilds, leading to a Level 3 Extended Diploma. As an apprentice dental nurse, you will gain hands-on experience assisting dentists, sterilising and preparing equipment, performing reception duties, and supporting the overall patient experience within a dental practice. The role encompasses a range of responsibilities from chair-side assistance to administrative tasks and ensuring patient wellbeing.

Key duties include:

- Providing efficient and reliable chair-side support.

- Greeting patients and managing reception tasks.

- Handling patient queries and taking payments.

- Booking appointments and managing follow-ups.

- Sterilising and preparing equipment.

- Maintaining patient records.

- Supporting patient wellbeing and their dental experience.

- Cleaning dental areas and managing stock of supplies.

- Assisting dentists and the senior team in delivering effective patient care.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above. Desired skills include strong communication, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, administrative, and team working abilities, along with patience and a non-judgmental attitude.
