About the role

Provide efficient and reliable chair-side support to the dental surgery. The day-to-day duties of a dental nurse can span across all areas of the practice and can include reception duties, dealing with patient queries, taking payments, booking appointments, sterilising and preparing equipment, recording patient records, supporting patients' wellbeing, cleaning dental areas, and managing stock. The role also involves assisting dentists and the senior team to provide effective patient care.

Requirements include GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 (desired), and strong communication, organisation, customer care, problem-solving, administrative, and team working skills. Patience, a non-judgemental attitude, and a focus on patient care are also essential. The apprenticeship also requires passing a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and getting a Hepatitis B vaccine. Successful candidates will undertake a Dental Nurse (GDC 2023) Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, with off-the-job training taking place at the dental surgery. This apprenticeship offers potential career progression into roles like team manager, dental practice manager, dental therapist, dental hygienist, or orthodontic therapist.
