About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Equine Apprentice to gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a stud farm, focusing on breeding and eventing. Responsibilities include mucking out, turning out/bringing in horses, tacking up and cleaning, feeding, clipping, pulling, plaiting, trimming, bathing, rug changing, administering first aid, exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training), and assisting during veterinary and farrier visits. Previous experience with horses is essential. The role requires the candidate to be 18 or over due to insurance. Ideally, candidates should have their own transport as the farm is located in a rural area. A hardworking attitude, keenness to succeed in the equine industry, and a good sense of humour are highly valued. Accommodation is available if required. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity for permanent employment with Aston Mullins.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE English: 4 (Desired), GCSE Maths: 4 (Desired), Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, Initiative, Non judgemental, Patience, Physical fitness, Previous experience working with horses is essential. Candidates must be 18 or over.
